Ocacia is an international smooth soul jazz funk studio group. Ocacia is known for their socially conscious music which was featured on the UNESCO award winning film 500 Years Later as well as the multi-award winning film Motherland. The music is characterized by some as "escapist" in the usage of space, chords and ethnic overtones.
Ocacia's first album was released in 1999. The original members of the group were 'Alik Shahadah (Piano/Bass), Natasha Odlum (voice), David Hadley (Bass), Brian McCooke (drums), in recent years Ocacia has included vocalist and instrumentalist such as Sona Jobarteh (If I...) and Pinky Dlaba (KwaMashu and Come into the Sunshine).
